Market prices & rarity
What a 2-euro coin is worth depends above all on mintage, condition and demand. The lower the mintage, the rarer – and usually the more valuable.
Our rarity scale
| € | Very common – mintages usually range from several hundred thousand up to many millions. Trades at face value or barely above (uncirculated pieces). Usually still found in circulation. |

| €€ | Common – usually struck in mintages from several hundred thousand up to the low millions. Occasionally found in circulation, or available from dealers with a small collector premium (uncirculated pieces). |
| €€€ | Sought after – mintages usually between a few tens of thousands and a few hundred thousand. Hardly ever found in circulation; a sought-after collector’s item with solid value in the trade. |
| €€€€ | Rare – low mintage, mostly a few tens of thousands up to around 100,000 pieces. Practically never found in circulation and with a relatively high market value. Mostly issued only in official coin sets or other special collector editions. |
| €€€€€ | Rarity – strictly tiny mintages of a few thousand up to at most a few tens of thousands. Found almost exclusively at auction or through specialised dealers, and never in circulation. Issued solely as a special collector edition. |
