Country information
Slovakia, in the heart of Central Europe, came into being in 1993 following the peaceful dissolution of Czechoslovakia. The country, shaped by the Carpathians and the Danube, joined the European Union in 2004 and introduced the euro in 2009. Its capital is Bratislava.
