Country information

The Netherlands lie on the North Sea coast; large parts of the country were reclaimed from the sea and lie below sea level. As a founding member of the European Economic Community (1957), the Netherlands belongs to the EU's core nations. The country introduced the euro in 1999/2002. Its capital is Amsterdam.
