The design of Slovakia's first 2-euro commemorative coin for 2027 has been announced. The theme is "50th Anniversary of Charter 77." The obverse shows a hand holding a writing instrument signing the Charter, with the outline of the former Czechoslovakia visible in the background, above which the raised hands of a cheering crowd are depicted. The issuing state "SLOVENSKO" and the year "2027" run along the upper rim; the commemorative inscription "Charta 77" appears at the lower left. The twelve stars of the European flag are on the outer ring. Designed by Karol Ličko, the coin is planned for January 2027 with an expected mintage of approximately 1 million, including 5,000 in proof case.
