2-euro coins 2027 – background & themes of the year
For 2027, 16 issues have been announced so far, all commemorative coins – no circulation coin or joint European issue is currently planned. Since 2027 hasn't started yet, these 2-euro coins 2027 are confirmed but not yet released, and mintage figures for several countries are still pending.
Germany continues the "German Federal States" series, running since 2006, with North Rhine-Westphalia, alongside a commemorative coin for former foreign minister Hans-Dietrich Genscher.
Internationally, 2027 lines up several round anniversaries: Austria plans a coin marking the 200th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven's death, and Bulgaria marks 20 years of EU membership as well as the Bulgarian rose. San Marino has announced two microstate issues – marking the 300th anniversary of Isaac Newton's death and titled "San Marino – Land of Peace" – whose mintages are not yet fixed. Among currently known figures, two Luxembourg coins stand out as comparatively low at 131,000 pieces each, while Estonia and Lithuania are each planning around 1,000,000 pieces.
