20 Jahre Bulgarien in der EU

On 1 January 2007, Bulgaria joined the European Union together with Romania, completing a decisive step in its integration after the end of the Cold War. Accession was the result of years of reform in public administration, the judiciary, and the economy.

Twenty years on, the country looks back on deep integration into the European single market and its common institutions. The commemorative coin marks this anniversary while also standing for Bulgaria's path toward the eurozone.
