150. Jahrestag der Befreiung Bulgariens
The liberation of Bulgaria in 1878 ended nearly five centuries of Ottoman rule. Following the Russo-Ottoman War of 1877/78 and the Treaty of San Stefano, a Bulgarian state re-emerged — an event still regarded today as the birth of modern Bulgaria and commemorated every year on 3 March as a national holiday.
The commemorative coin recalls this turning point in the nation's history and the recovery of state sovereignty.
