Die Bulgarische Rose
The Bulgarian rose (Rosa damascena) and the rose oil extracted from it have been an emblem of the country for centuries. In the "Rose Valley" around Kazanlak and Karlovo, one of the world's finest rose oils is produced, held in the highest regard by the international perfume industry.
The rose harvest and the long-standing rose festival are a fixture of Bulgarian culture. The commemorative coin places this national symbol at its centre.
