The Bank of Greece has issued both 2025 2-euro commemorative coins.
The first coin is dedicated to the "100th Birthday of Mikis Theodorakis". The obverse depicts the Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis (1925–2021) conducting, shown on the right side. Along the upper rim, the commemorative inscription "100 XRONIA AΠO TH ΓENNHΣH TOY MIKH θEOΔΩPAKH" is shown, with the designer's abbreviation "ΣTAM" below on the right and the palmette of the Greek Mint to the left of it. At the lower left, the issuing state "ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΔΗΜΟΚΡΑΤΙΑ", the year "2025" and a treble clef are depicted. The outer ring bears the twelve stars of the European flag. Designed by Georgios Stamatopoulos, the coin has a total mintage of 750,000 pieces, with 5,000 BU coincards available from 18 September and 3,500 proof cases.
The second coin is dedicated to the "200th Anniversary of the Death of Laskarina Bouboulina". The obverse features the heroine of the Greek War of Independence, Laskarina Bouboulina (1771–1825), depicted on the right based on a 19th-century painting by an unknown artist, shown against the rigging of a sailing ship. The commemorative inscription "200 XRONIA AΠO TO θANATO THΣ ΛAΣKAPΝAΣ MΠOYMΠOYΛIΝAΣ" runs diagonally from lower left to upper right; the country name "ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΔΗΜΟΚΡΑΤΙΑ" appears at the lower right. On the left, the year "2025", the Greek Mint palmette and the designer's abbreviation "λδ" are shown. The outer ring bears the twelve stars of the European flag. Designed by Leda Pavli, the coin has a total mintage of 750,000 pieces, with 5,000 BU coincards available from 6 October and 3,500 proof cases.
