The Hrvatska Narodna Banka has published the design of Croatia's first 2-euro commemorative coin for 2026. The theme is "100 Years of Croatian Radio and Television." The obverse shows five rows of radio waves. The year "2026" is centred in the first wave; the second and third carry the commemorative inscription "100 GODINA" and "HRVATSKE RADIOTELEVIZIJE." The country code "HR" for the issuing state appears in the fifth row.
The radio waves symbolise the first broadcast of Radio Zagreb, which went on air on 15 May 1926 at 8:30 pm on the 350-metre medium wave. This moment also marks the beginning of operations of the Croatian Radio-Television (CRTV), the legal successor to Radio Zagreb and today the central national media organisation HRT, which holds great cultural and social significance for the Republic of Croatia.
The twelve stars of the European flag are on the outer ring. Designed by Karlo Gross, the coin is issued on 20 July with a mintage of 200,000, including 5,000 each in BU coincard and proof case.
