The design of Cyprus's 2-euro commemorative coin for 2026 has been announced. The coin's theme is "EU Council Presidency." The obverse features the logo of Cyprus's EU Presidency, which runs in the first half of 2026, inspired by the handmade lace embroidery of Lefkara known as "Lefkaritika." The commemorative inscription and year "KYΠPIAKIH ΠPOEΔPIA ΣYMBOYΛIOY EE 2026" run along the upper rim; the issuing state "KYΠPOΣ KIBRIS" is positioned at the lower rim. The twelve stars of the European flag are on the outer ring. The coin is planned with a total mintage of 275,000, including 5,000 each in BU coincard and BU capsules, and 15,000 in proof case.
