The design of Germany's first 2-euro commemorative coin for 2026 has been announced today. The theme is "Klimahaus® Bremerhaven 8° Ost." It is part of the "Federal States II" series, launched in 2023, which honours one German federal state each year with a prominent landmark. The obverse depicts the Klimahaus in Bremerhaven, showing the futuristic structure of this science and experience centre from a striking, low-angle perspective. The ship-like architecture, two seagulls, and a stylised suggestion of the harbour convey Bremen's identity as a maritime hub of science. The commemorative inscription "BREMEN" appears on the right; the country code "D" for Germany is shown along the upper edge; the year "2026" along the lower edge; and the relevant mint mark – "A," "D," "F," "G," or "J" – to the left of the design. The coin designer's initials appear at the lower left. The outer ring bears the twelve stars of the European flag. The coin, designed by Bodo Broschat, is scheduled for January 2026 with a mintage of 30 million pieces.
