The design of Lithuania's 2025 2-euro commemorative coin was presented today. The theme is: "For Defence." The obverse depicts the outline of Lithuania, its borders surrounded by a stylised barrier symbolising the concept of total defence of the entire society. Lithuania is represented as a hedgehog, always ready to defend itself. The hedgehog image also stands for the openness and fragility of free societies, which must be defended against external threats by all available means. At center, the issuing country "LIETUVA," the year "2025," and the mint mark of the Lithuanian mint are shown. The outer ring bears the twelve stars of the European flag. The coin, designed by Tomas Dragūnas & Karolis Tumelis, is planned for the first quarter of 2025 with a mintage of 500,000 pieces, including 5,000 in a BU coincard.
