The Monnaie de Paris has issued France's first 2-euro commemorative coin for 2026. The coin's theme is "Antoine de Saint-Exupéry – 80th Anniversary of the Publication of The Little Prince." The obverse features Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's protagonist in a pensive pose at the centre. Behind him, the large numeral "80" is orbited by stars and a planet. The commemorative inscription "Le Petit Prince" appears above the design; at the upper rim, the monogram "RF" flanked on both sides by the mint marks of the French mint and chief engraver Joaquin Jimenez. The year "2026" is at the lower rim. Designed by Joaquin Jimenez, the coin has a mintage of 300,000 (4 × 75,000 in BU coincard), 15,000 in proof, and 5,000 in reverse proof.
