The German mint has issued the first German 2-euro commemorative coin of 2026. The coin honours Konrad Adenauer and forms part of the "Unity, Justice and Freedom" series launched in 2025, which annually commemorates prominent German politicians. The obverse features a three-quarter portrait of Adenauer, whose 150th birthday falls in 2026. Along the left rim, the inscription "KONRAD ADENAUER" and the respective mint mark — "A", "D", "F", "G" or "J" — appear to the left of the design, while the life dates "1876–1967", the country code "D" and the issue year "2026" are positioned along the right rim. The designer's initials "MD" complete the design. The outer ring bears the twelve stars of the European flag. Designed by Marianne Dietz, the coin has a total mintage of 30 million pieces, with 13,000 BU folder coins and 18,000 proof folder coins struck per mint mark.
