The Federal Ministry of Finance has issued Germany's second 2-euro commemorative coin of 2025 through the German mint. The coin is the first issue in the new "Unity, Justice and Freedom" series and is themed "35 Years of German Unity". The obverse features a typographic composition: along the vertical axis, the phrase "Wir sind ein Volk" ("We are one people") appears right-aligned on the left; on the right, "35 Jahre Deutsche Einheit" ("35 Years of German Unity") appears left-aligned. Both blocks of text are framed by horizontal lines above and below. The connection is made through an enlarged "D" at the centre, underscoring the fact that there were once Germans in both East and West. Along the upper rim, the designer's initials "TS" and the respective mint mark ("A", "D", "F", "G" or "J") are visible. Along the lower rim, the country code "D" for Germany and the issue year "2025" are shown. The outer ring bears the twelve stars of the European flag. Designed by Thomas Serres, the coin has a total mintage of 30 million pieces, including 14,000 BU coincards and 19,000 proof cases.
