Monaco's first 2-euro commemorative coin for 2025 was issued today. The theme is "The Ancient Fief of the Grimaldi Family: Carladès." The obverse features, at center, the residence of the Princes of Monaco de Vic-sur-Cère (Cantal) in the viscountcy of Carladès. Along the upper edge, the issuing country "MONACO" appears before a hatched shield on the left and the lion, the heraldic animal of Carlat, on the right. Along the lower edge, the commemorative inscription "COMTÉ DE CARLADÈS" is shown, and on the right edge, the year of issue "2025" together with the mint marks of the Monnaie de Paris and chief engraver Joaquin Jimenez. The outer ring bears the twelve stars of the European flag. The first coin is issued in a mintage of 15,000 pieces in a proof presentation case.
