The Bank of Greece presented the new theme and design of Greece's second 2-euro commemorative coin for 2025 today.

Replacing the previously announced and now cancelled theme "100th Birthday of Manos Chatzidakis," the subject will be "200th Death Anniversary of Laskarina Bouboulina." The obverse features the heroine of the Greek War of Independence, Laskarina Bouboulina (1771–1825), on the right, depicted before the rigging of a sailing ship based on a 19th-century painting by an anonymous artist. Running from lower left to upper right along the edge, the commemorative inscription "200 XRONIA AΠO TO θANATO THΣ ΛAΣKAPΝAΣ MΠOYMΠOYΛIΝAΣ;" the issuing country "ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΔΗΜΟΚΡΑΤΙΑ" is visible at the lower right. On the left, the year "2025," the palmette of the Greek mint, and below it the initials "λδ" of the coin designer are shown. The outer ring bears the twelve stars of the European flag. The coin, designed by Leda Pavli, will be issued with a total mintage of 750,000 pieces, including 5,000 in a BU coincard and 3,500 in a proof presentation case.
