San Marino's second 2025 2-euro commemorative coin has been issued. The theme is "550th Anniversary of the Birth of Michelangelo". The obverse features Michelangelo's celebrated black chalk drawing "The Head of Cleopatra" with a serpent from 1535, today housed at the Fondazione Casa Buonarroti in Florence. The country name "SAN MARINO" appears on the right; the commemorative inscription "MICHELANGELO" and the "R" mint mark for the Rome Mint are on the left; the years "1475" and "2025" appear on either side of the design. The initials "SP" of designer Silvia Petrassi along the lower rim complete the design. The outer ring bears the twelve stars of the European flag. The coin has a mintage of 59,000 pieces, including 56,000 BU coincards, 3,000 proof sets and 4,000 reverse proof pieces.
