San Marino's first 2-euro commemorative coin for 2025 was issued today. The theme is "Holy Year 2025 – Pilgrims of Hope." The obverse features, at center, a depiction of the Virgin Mary as "Stella Maris" (Star of the Sea), holding the Christ Child by the hand, set against an anchor, a calm sea surface, and a brightly shining star as a symbol of hope. The issuing country "SAN MARINO" and the "R" mint mark of the Rome mint appear on the left; the commemorative inscription "IUBILAEUM" and the year "2025" are shown on the right of the design. The initials "DI MAVLO" of coin designer Gabriele Di Maulo at the lower edge complete the design. The outer ring bears the twelve stars of the European flag. The coin, designed by Di Maulo, is issued with a mintage of 59,000 pieces, including 56,000 in a BU coincard and subsequently 3,000 in a proof mint set.
