The Banka Slovenija issued the Slovenian 2-euro commemorative coin for 2024 today. The theme is "250 Years of the National and University Library." The obverse features one of the door handles from the library's entrance, designed by architect Jože Plečnik (1930–41): figures of horse heads symbolising Pegasus. The mythological horse is meant to lead visitors into the world of knowledge. Along the upper edge, the commemorative inscription "NARODNA IN UNIVERZITETNA KNIJŽNICA" is shown, and along the lower edge, the issuing country "SLOVENIJA" and the year "2024." The outer ring bears the twelve stars of the European flag. The coin, designed by Mojca Mlinar & Dominik Košak, is issued with a mintage of 1 million pieces, including 6,000 in a BU mint set, 3,000 in a proof presentation case, and 750 in a proof mint set.
