The theme of Belgium's first 2-euro commemorative coin for 2025 has been announced today. The theme is "National Lottery of Belgium." The obverse will feature, alongside the design, the commemorative occasion, the country code "BE" for Belgium, and the year "2025." The mint marks of the Koninklijke Nederlandse Munt and the incumbent Belgian mintmaster Giovanni Van de Velde, together with the initials "IB" of coin designer Iris Bruijns, will complete the design. The outer ring bears the twelve stars of the European flag. The coin, again expected to be designed by Iris Bruijns, is planned with a total mintage of approximately 125,000 pieces, including 60,000 each in Dutch- and French-language BU coincards, as well as 5,000 in proof. Whether a further 2 million uncirculated pieces will again be released for general circulation at a later date has not yet been confirmed.
