The theme of Belgium's second 2-euro commemorative coin for 2025 has been announced today. It is "Spa-Francorchamps Racing Circuit." The obverse features the current layout of the circuit at center. On the left, the circuit's total length "7.004 M" is shown, along with the year of its construction, "1921." Above the circuit layout, the commemorative inscription "CIRCUIT DE SPA FRANCORCHAMPS" is displayed. Along the lower edge, the country code "BE" and the year "2025" appear, accompanied by the mint marks of the Koninklijke Nederlandse Munt and the incumbent Belgian mintmaster Giovanni Van de Velde. On the right, the initials "IB" of coin designer Iris Bruijns. The outer ring bears the twelve stars of the European flag. The coin is expected to be issued with a total mintage of approximately 154,000 pieces, including 75,000 each in Dutch- and French-language BU coincards, as well as 4,000 in proof. Whether a further approximately 1 million circulation coins will subsequently be struck for general use remains to be confirmed.
