The theme of France's first 2-euro commemorative coin for 2026 was also announced today. In the wake of yesterday's news about the Notre-Dame coin, the 2026 theme also emerged: "Antoine de Saint-Exupéry" – a subject that had apparently already been informally mentioned by the Monnaie de Paris at the World Money Fair. The obverse will feature, alongside a portrait of the author of The Little Prince, the monogram "RF," the year "2026," and the mint marks of the French mint and chief engraver Joaquin Jimenez. No further details regarding mintage or release date have been announced for the coin, which was designed by Joaquin Jimenez.
