The theme of Germany's second 2-euro commemorative coin for 2026 has been announced today. The theme is "Konrad Adenauer." The coin is part of the "Unity, Justice and Freedom" series, launched in 2025, which will honour German politicians who have shaped the history of the Federal Republic in an exceptional way, with one commemorative coin each year. The obverse will feature, alongside a portrait of the most famous German statesman of the post-war era and first Federal Chancellor of Germany, the commemorative occasion, the country code "D" for Germany, and the year "2026." The coin designer's initials and the relevant mint mark – "A," "D," "F," "G," or "J" – will complete the design. The outer ring bears the twelve stars of the European flag. The coin is expected to be issued in 2026 with a mintage of approximately 30 million pieces.
