Vatican Announces Themes for 2-Euro Commemorative Coins 2026: "Magisterium of Pope Leo XIV" and "400th Anniversary of St. Peter's Basilica"

The Commercializzazione Filatelica e Numismatica has presented the themes of the Vatican's 2-euro commemorative coins for 2026 in its issue programme.

The first coin's theme is "Magisterium of Pope Leo XIV." The obverse will show the issuing state "CITTA' DEL VATICANO," the year "2026," and the coin designer's initials alongside the main design. The twelve stars of the European flag will appear on the outer ring.

The second coin's theme is "400th Anniversary of St. Peter's Basilica." The obverse will show the issuing state "CITTA' DEL VATICANO," the year "2026," and the coin designer's initials alongside the main design. The twelve stars of the European flag will appear on the outer ring.
