The design of Estonia's 2-euro commemorative coin for 2026 has been announced. The theme is "Sipsik." The obverse depicts the beloved Estonian children's book character Sipsik, created by author Eno Raud – a reader favourite since 1962 that has inspired a love of books in tens of thousands of children. The commemorative inscription "SIPSIK" appears at the lower left; the issuing state "EESTI" and the year "2026" at the upper right. The twelve stars of the European flag are on the outer ring. The design was created in collaboration with the Estonian Children's Literature Centre, using original illustrations by Edgar Valter. Designed by Ivar Sakk, the coin is planned for June with an expected mintage of approximately 1 million, including 12,000 in BU coincard.
