The further themes for Germany's 2-euro commemorative coins from 2027 to 2031 have been announced at the presentation of the Konrad Adenauer commemorative coin in the "Unity and Justice and Freedom" series. The series honours politicians who have left a particularly significant mark on the history of the Federal Republic of Germany. One 2-euro commemorative coin will be issued per year, in addition to the standard 2-euro circulation coin, with a mintage of approximately 30 million pieces. According to the press release from the cabinet meeting of 14 January 2026, the Federal Government plans the following further issues:
The theme of the 2027 coin is "Hans-Dietrich Genscher." The obverse will feature a portrait alongside the commemorative inscription, the respective mint mark "A," "D," "F," "G" or "J," vital dates, the country code "D," the year of issue, and the coin designer's initials. The twelve stars of the European flag will appear on the outer ring. Expected mintage: approximately 30 million.
The theme of the 2028 coin is "Richard von Weizsäcker." Same design layout as above. Expected mintage: approximately 30 million.
The theme of the 2029 coin is "Annemarie Renger." Same design layout as above. Expected mintage: approximately 30 million.
