For the very first time, the Central Bank of Ireland has announced in its newsletter the issue of a second 2-euro commemorative coin for 2026 in the fourth quarter, in addition to the "EU Council Presidency" issue already planned for the third quarter. The theme of the coin has not yet been revealed. The obverse will feature the issuing state "EIRE" and the year "2026" alongside the main design. The twelve stars of the European flag will appear on the outer ring. The coin is planned for Q4 with a mintage yet to be announced, available in both BU coincard and proof case.
