Lithuania's first 2-euro commemorative coin for 2026 has been issued. The coin's theme is "Lithuania's Energy Independence." The obverse carries a symbol of energy: the bird of freedom, rising dynamically and powerfully skyward. Lightning motifs convey energy and determination. At the upper rim, the bird's head merges into a stylised version of the Columns of Gediminas, while the wings illustrate the harmony between domestic energy sources and new external connections. The issuing state "LIETUVA" appears to the left and the year "2026" to the right. The twelve stars of the European flag are on the outer ring. Designed by Tomas Dragūnas, the coin has a mintage of 500,000, including 5,000 in BU coincard.
