The design for Lithuania's first 2-euro commemorative coin of 2026 has been revealed. The theme is "Lithuania's Independence in Energy Supply". The obverse carries a symbol of energy: a bird of freedom rising dynamically and powerfully. The lightning bolt motifs symbolise energy and determination. At the top of the design, the bird's head merges into a stylised version of the Columns of Gediminas, while the wings illustrate the balance between domestic energy sources and new external connections. The country name "LIETUVA" appears on the left and the issue year "2026" on the right. The outer ring bears the twelve stars of the European flag. Designed by Tomas Dragūnas, the coin is scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2026 in a mintage of 500,000 pieces, including 5,000 BU coincards.
