Both Maltese 2-euro commemorative coins for 2026 have been issued.

The first coin carries the theme "Valletta" in the series "Maltese Walled Cities." The obverse depicts the Grand Harbour in the historic heart of the Maltese capital Valletta. The commemorative inscription "VALLETTA" and the issuing state "MALTA" appear above the design. The year "2026" is shown to the left of the design. The designer's abbreviation "NGB" is placed at the lower rim. The twelve stars of the European flag are on the outer ring. Designed by Noel Galea Bason, the coin has a total mintage of 143,000, including 30,000 in BU coincard, 5,000 in BU coin set, and 3,000 in proof case.

The second coin carries the theme "The Pharaoh Hound" in the series "Endemic Species." The obverse features the Pharaoh Hound prominently at centre. The commemorative inscription "IL-KELB TAL-FENEK" appears at the upper right, the issuing state "MALTA" and the year "2026" at the lower rim. The designer's abbreviation "MAF" is placed to the left. The twelve stars of the European flag are on the outer ring. Designed by Maria Anna Frisone, the coin has a total mintage of 138,000, including 30,000 in BU coincard and 3,000 in proof case.
