The Portuguese INCM has issued Portugal's second 2-euro commemorative coin of 2025. The theme is "Sustainable Development". The obverse features a central representation of planet Earth, surrounded by the commemorative inscription "DESENVOLVIMENTO SUSTENTÁVEL". Running diagonally from the lower left to the upper right is a branch-like arrangement of 17 pairs of leaves, each arranged in a triangle to form the universal recycling symbol, representing the 17 goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. In the upper right, the mint inscription "CASA DA MOEDA" and the name of the designer "CAROLINA LADEIRA" are visible. The national coat of arms separates the country name "Portugal" and the year "2025" at the lower right. The outer ring bears the twelve stars of the European flag. Designed by Carolina Ladeira, the coin has a total mintage of 515,000 pieces, including 7,500 BU coincards and 7,500 proof folders.
