The design for Slovenia's 2026 2-euro commemorative coin has been presented. The theme is "150th Birthday of Ivan Cankar". The obverse translates contour lines from the vertical grid of the sculpture "Ivan Cankar" into a striking concentric arrangement that reinforces the archetypal image of Cankar. The sculpture stands in front of the Cankarjev dom cultural centre. The design is an outstanding example of a contemporary numismatic interpretation of Cankar's portrait — one that reaches beyond tradition and enters into a dialogue with the present. Alongside the design, the commemorative inscription, the country name "SLOVENIJA" and the issue year "2026" are shown. The outer ring bears the twelve stars of the European flag. Designed by Adam Breznik, the coin will be issued in 2026 in a mintage that has not yet been announced.
