On Friday, France submitted a design for its second 2-euro commemorative coin for 2025 to the European Council for approval. Reports have since emerged confirming that the theme of France's second 2-euro commemorative coin for 2025 is "Notre-Dame" – something the Monnaie de Paris had already alluded to informally at the World Money Fair. The obverse features the facade of Notre-Dame de Paris at center, as seen from the forecourt, with the rose window set into the background behind the towers. On the left, the year "2025," the monogram "RF," and the mint mark of the French mint are shown; on the right, the mint mark of chief engraver Joaquin Jimenez. The outer ring bears the twelve stars of the European flag. The coin, designed by Joaquin Jimenez, is scheduled for issue in September with a total mintage of 20 million pieces.
