The Right Place for Your Collection

The traditional coin album — where coins are slotted into plastic pockets — has fallen a little out of fashion, but it retains some clear advantages: it is portable, space-efficient, and relatively inexpensive to buy.

Albums can also be fitted with sleeves for coin frames, official circulation coin sets, or printed reference sheets that provide data on each coin. Because the coins receive only limited protection from ambient air, tarnishing and oxidation are genuine risks.

When buying, make sure that the plastic pockets are plasticiser-free. A protective slipcase is worth considering, as dust can otherwise settle quickly between the sleeves.
