At the centre: Grand Duke Guillaume's portrait facing left. The commemorative inscription "GROUSSHERZOG GIULLAUME VU LËTZEBUERG" runs along the upper edge; to the right: the year "2026". Along the lower edge: the birth date "*11.11.1981" and the accession date "3.10.2025". The marks of the Paris Mint, Engraver-General Joaquin Jimenez, and designer Chiara Principe are placed to the lower right of the portrait.
This coin is expected to be issued as a photorealistic strike as well, in a mintage of just 2,500. This variant is only included in the official coin set.
On 3 October 2025, after some 25 years on the throne, Grand Duke Henri abdicated in favour of his eldest son: Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume, born on 11 November 1981, became the new Grand Duke of Luxembourg. The 2026 coin combines this accession to the throne with his 45th birthday.
