Estonia’s central bank Eesti Pank has unveiled the design of the 2027 2-euro commemorative coin honouring veterans of the Estonian Defence Forces. The design by artist Kerli Tamjärv won the official design competition.

The motif honours the women and men of the Estonian Defence Forces. It shows the silhouette of a saluting soldier of the Estonian Defence Forces. On the chest is the stylised veterans’ flower (Sinilill), a symbol of recognition for veterans in Estonia. The background consists of pixelated camouflage patterns representing digital camouflage and modern defence structures. The country name and year appear at the lower left, and the outer ring shows the twelve EU stars.

A total of 1,000,000 coins will be minted and issued in 2027. The coin is legal tender throughout the eurozone. Eesti Pank notes that technical adjustments may still be made before minting. A precise issue date has not yet been announced.
