The outline of Lithuania surrounded by a stylised outward-facing spiked barrier, symbolising the concept of total societal defence. Lithuania is depicted as a hedgehog — always ready to defend itself — an image that also speaks to the openness and fragility of free societies that must be protected by all means against external threats. At centre: the issuing state "LIETUVA", below it the year "2025" and the Lithuanian mint mark.
The coin reflects Lithuania’s concept of comprehensive (total) defence – the idea that in an emergency not only the armed forces but society as a whole contributes to the country’s resilience. As a small EU and NATO member on the alliance’s eastern border, Lithuania places particular emphasis on defence readiness and civil resilience. The hedgehog symbolises a peaceful yet defensible nation, determined to protect itself when threatened.
