The themes of San Marino's two 2-euro commemorative coins for the year 2027 have been announced.

The first issue will be dedicated to the 300th anniversary of Isaac Newton's death. The English physicist, mathematician and astronomer is among the most important scientists in history. Through his work on classical mechanics, gravitation and optics, he laid essential foundations of modern natural science. Newton died on 31 March 1727 in London, so the issue falls in the 300th year of the scholar's death. The coin is to be issued in San Marino's customary versions: brilliant uncirculated (BU), proof and reverse proof.

The second issue bears the title "San Marino – Land of Peace". With it, the world's oldest surviving republic seeks to highlight its historic tradition of neutrality, freedom and peaceful coexistence. San Marino has repeatedly taken up national and international themes of peace, international understanding and humanitarian values on its coins. This issue, too, is to be released in the brilliant uncirculated (BU), proof and reverse proof variants.

No information is yet available on the motifs of either coin. Likewise, neither the mintage figures nor the planned issue dates have so far been published. Further details are expected to be announced at a later date by the philatelic-numismatic department of Poste San Marino.

San Marino has issued 2-euro commemorative coins regularly since 2004. The issues are usually produced exclusively for collectors and do not enter general circulation.
