Since 2010, Spain has been issuing the "UNESCO World Heritage" series — one of the longest-running 2-euro series of all. Each year, a commemorative coin honours a Spanish World Heritage Site, from the Mezquita in Córdoba and the Alhambra to the works of Antoni Gaudí. The series continues to this day and constitutes a collecting field in its own right.
